LILLIE FISH
After four years as a college DJ with a marginally popular country music show ‘Lillbilly’, I abandoned dreams of radio greatness for an ungodly amount of time pursuing a phd in art history. While locked in the ivory tower, I procrastinated like a banchee by seeking new music far and wide (this meant buying whatever new release Ryan Adams was concocting at that moment). Now a day trader and artist, I like to preach my musical opinions to my musician husband, who quite wisely always agrees with whatever musical rant I am on that day.
RACHEL HEUSSENSTAMM
I’ll never forget, at thirteen, coming out of a late-night high school jazz band rehearsal, bass in hand, high as a kite. Practically gitty, I got in my mum’s car and she asked what was wrong with me. I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. At the time, I did not know what was wrong with me or what had just happened. My mum smiled back. She knew exactly what was wrong with me: I was hooked. As a designer by profession, today I spent most of the day moving elements around in circles until they looked fabulous and I am very aware that those circles would have moved a whole lot slower if it was not for a good jam on a quality set of headphones.
